Church land holds schools, hospitals, churches and future investment sites. Much of it has historically been undocumented, which exposes it to encroachment and disputes.
What is being done
CCHCL leads training and roll-out of a Land Information Management System (LIMS) and supports a nationwide campaign to secure title for Church property. The March 2026 Board of Trustees meeting noted improved land management practices as a result.
How dioceses take part
- Nominate a diocesan land focal person (usually the diocesan secretary or estates officer).
- Compile existing documents: titles, lease offers, survey reports, minutes and gift deeds.
- Record each parcel in LIMS with its location, use and documentation status.
- Work with CCHCL's lands and legal officers on surveys and title processing.
