Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Church Commissioners Holding Company Limited ("CCHCL", "we", "us"), the investment arm of the Church of Uganda. Our office is at Plot 1572 Namirembe Road, P.O. Box 14123, Kampala, Uganda. For any question about this policy or about your personal information, email info@cchcl.com.
This policy covers this website only. Websites of the Church of Uganda and of our subsidiaries are operated separately and have their own policies.
2. Information we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us, plus the limited technical information described in section 4.
- Enquiry forms (contact, partnership and office-space leasing enquiries): your name, email address, phone number, organisation and message.
- Giving pledges: your name, email address, phone number, the amount you pledge and the cause you choose.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, your name (optional) and the topics you are interested in.
- Administrator accounts (CCHCL staff who manage this website): name, email address and the details needed to sign in securely. Changes made in the admin area are logged for accountability.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and pass it to the right CCHCL team.
- To record your giving pledge and follow it up with you.
- To send the newsletter you asked for. We use double opt-in: we first email you a confirmation link and add you to the list only after you click it. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
- To keep the website secure and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used.
- To meet CCHCL's legal and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Visitor statistics and analytics
The website keeps its own cookie-free visitor statistics: daily counts of page views and visitors, the names of websites that sent visitors to us, and totals of actions such as form submissions. IP addresses are not stored. To count unique visitors, a one-way hash of the IP address and browser type is made with a key that changes every day; these hashes are deleted after two days and only daily totals are kept.
If you choose "Accept all" or switch on analytics in the cookie settings, we also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how pages are used. Google Analytics is not loaded unless you give that consent, and you can withdraw it at any time. See the Cookie Notice for details.
5. Service providers
We use the following providers to run the website. Some of them store or process information outside Uganda.
- Hostinger: web hosting for the website and its database (data centres in the EU and elsewhere).
- Microsoft 365: email delivery, including enquiry notifications, confirmation emails, receipts and newsletters, sent from CCHCL's own Microsoft 365 mailboxes.
- Pesapal: if you choose to pay a gift online, Pesapal processes the card or mobile money payment. CCHCL receives the payment status, amount and reference, not your card details.
- Google Analytics 4: visitor analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Google Fonts: the website's typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when a page loads.
6. How long we keep information
- Enquiries and pledges are kept for as long as we need them to respond and follow up, and for CCHCL's record-keeping obligations.
- Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe.
- Daily visitor hashes are deleted after two days.
7. Keeping information safe
CCHCL applies reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorised access, alteration or misuse. Access to submissions is limited to authorised staff who need it for their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Your rights
Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. To make a request, email info@cchcl.com. We may need to confirm your identity, and some records may have to be kept to meet legal obligations.
9. Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
